Everything starts somewhere. We start Oct 26th.
The picture is from the first day of practice for my former Girls Teal Wave Soccer Team. They were wee little things back then at U9 (7 & 8 year olds). Everything starts somewhere. I think I have finally figured out my website and have most, if not all the functionality set up. Yesterday with ChatGPT I wrote the background policies, which was an interesting process. These included the return policy, privacy statement, and the terms of service. I finally have my initial selection of the things I bake the most in the store and set up. I have the payment system configured and it should take PayPal and Venmo payments. I will try a test sale today or tomorrow as I have yet to see it work. The payment system is set up as a business account, and taxes will be involved as I am currently a sole proprietor set up. The initial goal of getting this set up and rolling is so that I can cover the cost of Sydney’s trip to Spain / France (I think her senior year). It’s about 4k which I would think is a doable goal even with small bakes each weekend.
I was given the gift of time by my former employer (parent company), although when it occurred, it was not intended as such. After 20 years of service to the company, I was threatened by a new CEO all of two weeks, literally. Even after backtracking the threat slightly (She couldn’t just fire me LOL), I took the threat seriously. My family is my priority. I secured a new opportunity, one where I will only be responsible for myself and those I care for. I resigned and gave 30 days’ notice on a Friday afternoon. The company I imagine considered me a loose cannon and that I might somehow sabotage the operation, so on the following Monday, I was given my freedom, while being paid out for the remaining 5 weeks plus my 225 hours of PTO. All the BS mental stress is now gone along with all the anxiety my former roll created in my life. I have fully enjoyed and used this time productively to work on all the things I have not had time or mental energy to get to, which included finding joy in life again and sorting out where my anxiety came from. I have eliminated all the negative influence factors, and instead I have been focusing on my health, mental well-being, my girls, and all my fur babies.
I still have 2 weeks (Nov 10th) until I start in my new Physical Therapy Position with LHC / Geisinger Home Health. I am excited about my coverage area and being able to focus on taking care of people again. The intent is to open the online store this Sunday 10/26/25 (it will be open Sunday night to Wednesday night or until sold out) the actual bake will be Saturday Night Nov 1 with the bread available for pick up Nov 2. The pickup location is my friend’s Gym (Wyman’s) which is closed on Sundays (I have his blessing to use it) at 1257 Columbia Blvd, Bloomsburg Pa 17815.
As I am unsure of how the payment system will work until we try it, anyone who orders can contact me and we will sort out the payment. What’s important is the bread.
I will be posting that the Blog and Site is active, and the store will be opening. I am asking everyone to check out the site and provide feedback on how it looks, the navigation and feel free to comment on content to pricing. Please be respectful and please be kind. The world needs a lot more of that right now. I am ok with haters as I can process them. Theres just no need for it when it comes to this journey.
I look forward to some comments and hopefully we will sell some bread.
